There are relatively few pieces written in the classical repertoire for duelling cellos. Still less for duelling cellist brothers, and only one, so far, for duelling cellists who are twins. Now the Sydney composer Elena Kats-Chernin has become the first person to deliver a work specifically written for two of Australia's most exciting young classical musicians, Sydney-born twins Pei-Jee and Pei-Sian Ng. Kats-Chernin's work, Phoenix Storyis billed as "hypnotic echoes for cellos" and will get its world premiere on the city Twin Cellists tour of Australia that starts in their home town, Adelaide, on Saturday.
